Articles - Andropause and the Male Client Hair Replacement Topically Speaking By: Dr. M. Palmer, ND, PhD The basis of hair growth and loss is based on the three stages of hair follicle development. Each hair goes through a growing, resting and sometimes a dying stage. It is the prevention of the dying stage that is crucial in the treatment of Alopecia, so as to prevent the hair from falling out. It s the individual hair that is affected, rather than the specific area. So, for example, that is why hair can be extracted from the side of the head and placed into the balding region, where it will continue to grow.

Dr. Schilling's Net Health Book - Male menopause (=Andropause) Male menopause or andropause is for males what menopause is for females. There is a lack of male potency and male impotence is what is the most prominent symptom in this condition. With lab tests a low testosterone level is found and LH/FSH levels are high. We know from research papers that insulin resistance syndrome leads to a reduction in cyclic AMP, which in turn clamps down on testosterone production. Other symptoms of male menopause are irritability, lack of energy, depression, mood changes, diminished sex drive, loss of sexual interest and erection problems. Other health problems such as cardiac problems, pulmonary problems , diabetes and hypertension often have associated erectile dysfunction. Any of these medical ailment are treated with various drugs that are causing impotence again as a side effect. Hormonal conditions are causing impotence and diabetes and impotence are associated. Impotence treatment starts with a change in life style, a zone diet program, walking program and includes relaxation exercises such as meditation and hypnosis. When all these methods are exhausted, an impotence pill such as Viagra can be used, but care has to be taken about side effects. Another treatment modalitiy is testosterone replacement therapy in low doses. Even testosterone has side effects, such as heptatic toxicity and liver cancer, prostate cancer and secondary polycythemia, which can thicken the blood and cause a stroke.
